Rome and The Vatican

The Italian capital city, is located in the Region of Lazio, on the Rio Tiber. Its nickname is the ‘eternal city’ due to its deep historical and cultural roots. According to mythology, Rome was founded on the 21st April 753BCE. Boasting the Colosseum, Roman Forum, Trevi Fountain and other famous landmarks, it’s no surprise that in 2023 the capital saw 35 million tourists. 2024 saw a record number of tourists visit the city, around 50 million.

The Vatican City is the smallest independent nation in the world and is surrounded wholly by the city of Rome. This is where the Pope lives and is home to the largest church in the world, the Sistine Chapel and the Vatican Museums and Gardens. It is a must see within your visit.
